I am running for the Board of Estimate and Taxation because I believe that I have the skills to ensure that Greenwich continues to be the premiere place to live, work, raise a family and retire. We all know Greenwich is a unique, wonderful place to live but keeping it that way in the current challenging environment will require experience, hard work and leadership
As a lifelong Greenwich resident, who raised my family and built my business here, my commitment to our town runs deep. Over the last three decades, I have served across all levels of town government, and at the same time built a successful business. This unique combination of public and private sector experience make me well prepared to lead our great town. My experience balancing budgets, leading and running large teams and understanding how Greenwich government works, are all skills that will help ensure that Greenwich’s quality of life is preserved for years to come.
During my time, I have worked closely with my fellow members of the BET, as well as the RTM to maintain the town’s strong financial position, maintained modest and predictable tax rates for residents, strongly encouraged investment in our educational facilities, enhanced the quality of our emergency services, and continued support for our seniors.
I have made it a priority to be a responsible steward of Greenwich’s resources. As Chairman of the BET, I worked to turn the town’s $17 million negative fund balance to today’s $50 million surplus, helped lead the town through the 2008 Financial Crisis without raising taxes and led the effort for the town to adopt its first fund balance and debt policy. These efforts have allowed the town to continue to maintain its high quality of life, without mortgaging its future.
Throughout my career, I believe I have demonstrated thoughtful and prudent leadership and the ability to make tough decisions – attributes needed to lead Greenwich into the future.
I ask for your support in my campaign for the BET as we stand together as one Greenwich United !
